This is exciting. Levi’s has been involved with the stage version of Green Day’s “American Idiot” – a riotous live production of Green Day’s hit songs at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley, CA. The show’s opening night was September 16, 2009.
This groundbreaking production featured a wide selection of Levi’s® pieces, as Costume Designer Andrea Lauer took Levi’s® 514® Slim Straight Jean, Levi’s® 510® Skinny Jean and the original jean, Levi’s® 501®, and slashed and tore the jeans and had them bleached, painted, or otherwise individualized to create an authentic look and feel for the show.
The Levi’s® brand’s passion for this project is deeply rooted in their history of supporting the rock and roll culture and ambitious musical endeavors, as well as the fact that Levi’s® jeans have long been the denim brand that rockers, and music enthusiasts alike, choose to live in.
The opening night after party was held in the courtyard of the Berkeley Rep, where trees were adorned with hanging shredded Levi’s® jeans and glittering combat boots, to enjoy vodka spiked snow cones and a Levi’s® barber shop. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong got in on the action and playfully shaved a mohawk for a guest.
